September Updates (so far)

Greetings people,

In the month of September there have been some further updates to the game. Some of them are optimisations to improve performance. Some of them are enhancements. I'll try to list the major ones below. There have been further updates since the video shown below as well:

1. Smoke has been enhanced, better sorting, better visuals, and better performance.

2. Tanks now fire smoke canisters when they're shot at with armour piercing rounds by other tanks making them more likely to survive - this mitigates the problem where tanks would be blown away the moment they were built by a bunch of waiting enemy tanks.

3. There's more scenery on the map - I've put some more rock/grass outcrops on the map and some dead units at the start of the game.

4. There's a performance/quality setting on the options menu and the options menu has been tidied and had unnecessary options removed.

5. Two more scenarios added to the scenarios page.

6.  Rain/Snow falls during the snowing periods of gameplay. (visual effect - snow also does effect combat slightly too)

7. A few config file options added, text now has a black outline behind it to make it pop more, but this can be switched off if you like in the config file, there's also a config option called "i_am_a_potato" which can be set to override all quality settings and run the game with all the performance options on instead - useful if you're running on an older PC.

8. Grenades bug fix - no one would have noticed but the grenades weren't being restocked for new units that were built on a level that happened to be in the same 'array slot' as an earlier unit that might have been built/tossed its grenades/and died.  Also - units that carry grenades now target any infantry with those grenades, not just 'riflemen'.

9. Taller grasses.

Some of these features are deliberately kept behind the 'quality' option - so if you choose 'performance' they won't be as visible, that's because I've lost access to my old 2014 PC and am using a new PC and so I can't be sure just whether or not the game will still run well with some of the new graphical features I'm adding - so I deliberately exclude them from settings that are for older PCs.

Thanks, Matt.
